Principal's Corner

Dear Carver Elementary and Arts Magnet School Parents, Community, and Stakeholders:

It is my pleasure and honor to continue to serve as the leader of Carver Elementary and Arts Magnet School. My mission is to continue the rich history of academic and arts excellence that this school has displayed for many years. It is truly an honor to serve our community. Also, I look forward to continuing to work with the dedicated faculty and staff in providing the best program for our students, as well as, helping the school to continue to expand.

I have served the last fourteen years in various positions within education. I started my education career as a 4th-grade teacher at Dannelly Elementary School. After years of teaching, I served as the school counselor. Prior to returning to MPS, I had the pleasure of serving Elmore County Public Schools as an Assistant Principal. I obtained my Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Law from Alabama State University, an Education Specialist degree, and two Master’s Degrees from Auburn University Montgomery. I have a beautiful daughter, Kiersten, who keeps me “on the go.” When I have some downtime, she and I enjoy spending time with extended family, reading, and shopping.

As the Principal, my goal is to inspire others and provide the necessary guidance to help others obtain their goals. I believe it is important to cultivate the highest quality service to every student, parent, teacher, and stakeholder. I believe a leader should create an environment of collaboration and teamwork in which members can utilize one another’s strengths to counter individual weaknesses. A leader is someone who empowers others, provides the necessary guidance, listens well, encourages creativity, and provides a team with thoughtful vision and strategic planning. I feel it is important to deeply understand the needs of the people and to thoughtfully consider the impact of one’s actions on others.

Through a close partnership with staff members, parents, and the community, I am confident that we can make our school a place where our students can continue to learn and grow academically and socially. Please feel free to stop in and say hello, as my door is always open. I look forward to an awesome school year. If there is anything I can assist you with, please feel free to let me know.
